Privacy Policy
Wyfari ("we," "our," or "the app") is a peer-to-peer encrypted messaging application for iOS. This Privacy Policy describes how the app handles — or, more accurately, does not handle — your data.
The short version: Wyfari collects no data of any kind. There are no servers. There is no backend. There is nothing to collect, store, or share — because none of that infrastructure exists.
1. Data Collection
Wyfari does not collect, transmit, or process any personal data whatsoever. This includes but is not limited to:
- No analytics or usage data
- No telemetry
- No crash reports
- No device identifiers
- No IP addresses
- No location data
- No contact information
- No message content or metadata
The app has no mechanism to collect data because there is no server, API, or cloud service to send data to.
2. No Servers or Backend Infrastructure
Wyfari has no servers. There is no backend, no API, no cloud infrastructure, and no database. The app operates entirely on your device and communicates directly with other devices using Apple's MultipeerConnectivity framework (Bluetooth and WiFi Direct). At no point is the internet used to transmit any data, even when an internet connection is available.
3. How Messages Are Transmitted
Messages are sent directly from one device to another using peer-to-peer wireless protocols (Bluetooth and WiFi Direct) provided by Apple's MultipeerConnectivity framework. Messages are never routed through any server, relay, or third-party service. The internet is never used for message delivery.
4. Encryption
All messages are end-to-end encrypted using:
- X25519 for key exchange
- AES-256-GCM for message encryption
Encryption keys are generated on your device during the QR code pairing process and are stored securely in the iOS Keychain. Encryption keys never leave your device and are never transmitted to any server or third party.
5. Local Data Storage
All data — including messages, conversation history, encryption keys, and pairing information — is stored locally on your device only. No data is ever backed up to, synced with, or transmitted to any external server or cloud service by the app.
6. Device Permissions
Wyfari requests the following device permissions:
- Camera: Used solely for scanning QR codes during the device pairing process. No photos or video are captured, stored, or transmitted.
- Local Network: Used for peer-to-peer device discovery and communication via Apple's MultipeerConnectivity framework. This permission enables Bluetooth and WiFi Direct connections between devices.
No other permissions are requested. The app does not access your contacts, photos, microphone, location, or any other device data.
7. Third-Party Services
Wyfari does not integrate any third-party SDKs, libraries, ad networks, analytics frameworks, or tracking tools. There are no third-party services of any kind embedded in the app.
8. Data Sharing
Wyfari does not share any data with any third party because Wyfari does not collect or have access to any data. There is nothing to share.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can delete all app data instantly by using the Factory Reset option in the app's settings, which permanently erases all messages, conversations, encryption keys, and pairing information from your device.
Uninstalling the app also removes all locally stored data.
10. Children's Privacy
Wyfari does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. However, since Wyfari does not collect personal information from anyone of any age, there is no data to distinguish. The app contains no data collection mechanisms regardless of the user's age.
11. Cookies and Website Tracking
The Wyfari website (wyfari.com) does not use cookies, tracking pixels, analytics scripts, or any other form of web tracking. The website is static HTML with no data collection capabilities.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, we will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date. Given that the app collects no data, material changes to this policy are unlikely.
