Frequently Asked Questions
How do I connect with someone?
One person opens the app and displays their QR code. The other person scans it with their camera. That's it — the two devices are now paired and can exchange encrypted messages directly. No accounts, no phone numbers, no sign-up required.
Do I need internet to use Wyfari?
No. Wyfari never uses the internet. Messages are sent directly between devices using Bluetooth and WiFi Direct. The app works in airplane mode, underground, in remote areas — anywhere two devices can be physically near each other.
How far away can the other person be?
WiFi Direct provides over 300 feet of range in open spaces. Actual environmental factors may reduce range. Bluetooth has a shorter range but is used alongside WiFi Direct for the best possible connection.
What happens if I walk out of range?
The connection will pause, but nothing is lost. You can continue typing messages while disconnected — they will queue up on your device. When you're back in range, the app auto-reconnects and delivers all queued messages automatically.
Is this really encrypted?
Yes. Wyfari uses X25519 for key exchange and AES-256-GCM for message encryption — the same standards used by leading security protocols. Encryption keys are generated on your device during pairing and stored securely in the iOS Keychain. They never leave your device.
Can you read my messages?
No. There are no servers — we have no access to your messages, your encryption keys, or any data whatsoever. Your messages exist only on your device and the device you're communicating with. There is literally no infrastructure for us to access even if we wanted to.
How do I delete all my data?
Open the app, go to Settings, and tap Factory Reset. This instantly and permanently erases all messages, conversations, encryption keys, and pairing information from your device. Alternatively, uninstalling the app removes all data.
The connection keeps dropping. What can I do?
A few tips for the best connection:
Stay within range of the other device — closer is better, especially indoors. Keep the app in the foreground for the most reliable connection. If the connection drops, the app will auto-reconnect when both devices are back in range. Make sure both devices have Bluetooth and WiFi enabled (the app does not use your internet connection, but WiFi Direct requires the WiFi radio to be on).
